The Shakti Shine - March 16th, 2020

Shakti Love Notes

We are always growing.  I love that!  And the more I grow, the more I recognize how important it is for us all to share what we're going through-- even (and especially) me.

So these Love Notes are a space for me to share with you each week-- about the studio, my life, how our community is growing.

The past week has been one of the strangest weeks of my life to date.

Chances are you might be feeling that way, too.

Someone today asked me if I was okay, and I said, 'I'm okay in waves.' And that seems to be the general consensus among people I know right now. It's such a weird and uncertain time to be living in, and I don't know about you but it's really testing my practice of presence.

The chaos and the noise feels overwhelming, and it's only been steadily growing.

Teaching last week during spring break and amidst the rise of COVID-19 felt like the beginning of a deepening for me.

When I was teaching was the only time I sensed myself to be fully present, and that presence gave me access to grounding, silence, calm, trust.

It felt like a fully-realized expression of what this practice has consistently offered me over the last nine years:

A place to get still -
A place to listen -
A place to take a deep breath -
A place to be -

I feel especially struck by the way this practice holds space for silence as an expression of space.

And that's usually what I need when I feel overwhelmed-- just a little bit of space.

Space to discover one fact at a time. Space to make the next right decision. Space to show up. Space to support. Space to grow. Space to change. Space to listen. Space to explore. Space to prep. Space to recover. Space to move forward. Space to be.

When I can access the feeling of spaciousness, I am automatically connected to grace, ease, and flow.

Suddenly I am able to remember that everyone (including me) is doing the best we can with what we have.

I hope this time brings you lots of space.

Space to practice from home. Space to connect with your family. Space to lend a helping hand. Space to meditate. Space to think. Space to talk. Space to share. Space for perspective. Space for nature. Space to practice trust. Space to ask for what you need. Space to get present. Space to wake up. Space to be.

I hope that all of this space connects you more deeply to yourself, to others, to your community, to the power of your presence, to trust, to grace, to ease, to flow.

I'm rooting for you; take care of yourself / and each other however you can.

Take your vitamins. Drink lots of water. Wash your hands.

xx

Teacher Trainee Spotlight!

💕Claire Scheikl 💕

💕What’s been the highlight of teacher training so far?
.
Forming mile-deep connections with the other trainees and expanding my roots in the greater shakti community.
.
💕What has been the biggest challenge?
.
Integration of the weekend learnings into my daily life. Following the methodology is so much easier when I’m around others on a similar journey - taking yoga out of the studio has been the biggest challenge.

💕What are you waking up to in your life?
.
The amount of choice I have in my every day - how I choose to arrive, present myself, Be open to receive and willing to give, and how I am truly the artist of my own life.
.
Say hi to Claire around the studio, and check her out teaching at @purveloathens 💋
