The Shakti Shine - May 11th, 2020

I believe that trustworthiness is something that resides innately at the center of your being.

-----
Note:
I woke up this morning and the first thought I had was, 'I have no idea what I'm going to write about in the Shine. What even happened this week? What do I even have to say?'

And then trust bubbled up, whispered in my brain, 'what about me?'

Which made me laugh because, of course, why don't I just trust that what I want to say will come?
-----

I'm pretty sure trust is part of who we are at the core. I say this because, for me, it feels like all the personal and internal work I do is work around trust-- learning to trust. Timing. People. Myself. 'God.'

According to Google, trust is

'To believe in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of.'
'To have faith, or confidence.'

I've been thinking lately:
What does trust look like in action?
What does it feel like to trust?

For me, the action of trust consistently and most purely comes through in my teaching.

Every time I step into the room, onto my mat to teach, I trust that something will move through me. I don't plan what I want to say. It just flows.

I taught about trust all day on Saturday, so I figured the best way to see what trust is all about is to reference what came up when I was actively trusting.
These are some quotes from class:

Trust is something that's felt in the present moment. Start to notice when you shift out

Re-anchor to the present moment with the tools that you have, your senses. Hold yourself accountable

A piece of trust is being able to look at the evidence. It's like, I made it through xyz; I'm still here; I'm ok. There's something worth trusting that I will continue to be okay, connect to okayness. That access, that portal, exists right now-- Here I am.

Learn from yourself. The way you trust every heartbeat, every breath to come one after the other. What if it was that simple to trust yourself every step of the way? You are your own best teacher.

I've noticed that trust can be something that I often feel like 'oh yeah, I got that' and I check it off the list. And then something comes up, and I haven't been practicing trust actively because I thought I had it. And then something comes up, and I freak out, and I think the world's falling apart. This work is a daily practice. There's nothing to check off here. It's the idea that growth is cyclical.

Being able to trust that there's no where to get to has offered me so much freedom. True trust offers freedom.

I think it offers freedom because when we trust, we give up trying to control things. Timing. People. Myself. 'God.'  We believe in the reliability, truth, ability and strength of the matter. We have faith and confidence.

Like having the freedom to trust that the flowers will bloom every spring- because they always have, they do every year, and that's just the way it is, there's nothing for me to control about that.

What does trust look like in action for you right now?
What does it feel like to trust?

Speaking of trust... Here's how we're practicing trust at Shakti right now:

We're trusting you to show up

We're trusting that things will work out and that we will continue to have the finances to keep doing this work

We're trusting ourselves to make the best call each step of the way

We're trusting ourselves enough to make a flexible plan for moving forward
--
For now that looks like this:
May- business as is / June & July- continue as is + a few outdoor class options

We're trusting our community to grow :)

You may know, my friend Kate and I co-facilitate the Duality Project.
Kate & I have been growing alongside each other and together for the past 6 years and the more we grow, the more work we want to do together.

So moving forward you'll start to see themes, workshops, journaling opportunities, conversations, and retreats coming from us at the Duality Project!

I wrote about DUALITY as the theme for this month in last week's newsletter:

Journaling questions to consider this week:

- What are 5 things I can see right now?

- What are 5 things I can hear right now?

- What is one thing that I believe about myself AND
a seemingly opposite thing I also believe about myself?

- Are both of those things true always?

- Write a positive run on sentence about yourself using
the word 'AND' as much as possible.
