The Shakti Shine - January 7, 2019

Shakti Love Notes

We are always growing. I love that! And the more I grow, the more I recognize how important it is for us all to share what we're going through-- even (and especially) me.

So these Love Notes are a space for me to share with you each week-- about the studio, my life, how our community is growing.

All I know is that the sun started shining on Saturday, and my whole life changed.

I forget how impactful the sun is until it shines again. The past few weeks (months?) of rain and cloudy skies must've really been bringing me down.

Which is why I am so grateful to my yoga practice, intention-setting, and self-care.

Because I really thought I was doing great... which is relative, so I suppose I really was doing great if I thought I was doing great... but what I mean to say is MY LIFE GOT SO MUCH BRIGHTER AND LIGHTER WHEN THE SUN CAME OUT.

And... the ways in which I take care of myself work even when the sun isn't shining.

Yoga is a life-saver, for sure, and the practice continually surprises, stretches, & challenges me in so many ways.

There's just something about the simple pleasure of being outside, though, with the sun shining bright into my eyes and warming my skin and the sound of the breeze in the air.... that feels like pure joy.

I say all this to say, I think enlightenment shows up in all kinds of ways.
We just have to be awake to it-- open & ready.

So I hope you go outside soon. Or do something that brings you a similar kind of joy. I hope you let the sun shine on your face and you let yourself be fully awake to feel it.

xx

Beyond the mat...

We love Athens.
And we love you.
So let's have more of that-- together.

Here's where you can see what we're up to outside of the studio.

Have ideas about where we should be / what we should check out / how we can show up?
Reply to this email to let us know.

Last year we focused our energy on Presence, Purpose, & Possibility. As the year progressed, we returned to presence over and over again, we honed our purpose, and we expanded our community by saying 'Yes' to possibility.

For 2019 we choose to cultivate Courage, Connection, & Community.

You'll hear us talk about each as we grow. It starts with Courage... Brene Brown says'Courage starts by showing up and letting ourselves be seen.'
Courage means we are committed to stepping outside our bubble in order to see & be seen. Meaningful connection happens when we are willing to be courageous. It isn't always easy to connect, but it is simple-- we just have to practice it. Meaningful connection means being open to the moment & caring about the person right in front of you. Our intention of Community goes beyond the walls of the studio. Community is a byproduct when we are intentionally courageous and we consistently connect! True community is sustained by our efforts; it's an action verb, just like love.

We are exited to grow together in Courage, Connection, & Community.
What do courage, connection, & community mean to you? How do we practice them?
How do we get there? When do we know when it's happening?
