The Shakti Shine - August 17, 2020

Shakti Love Notes

We are always growing.  I love that!  And the more I grow, the more I recognize how important it is for us all to share what we're going through-- even (and especially) me.

So these Love Notes are a space for me to share with you each week-- about the studio, my life, how our community is growing.

I’ve been thinking a lot about autonomous interdependence.

This is a phrase that to me means relationships that are equitable, of mutual investment, and ever-evolving.

Mostly it makes me think about how beautiful it is to get to be my whole self with others who are their whole selves and how we can see and support and be for each other in such a clear way that feels like being held. All while doing our own things, investing in community care, being vulnerable, and cheering each other on. Wow.⁣

For me autonomous interdependence sounds like this:

I am my own self. I am whole & complete.
I know myself best & I take good care of myself.
I am responsible for me.
You are responsible for you.
I need you, but I don't need you to be you as you are right now.
I don't need you to change and I don't need you not to change.
In fact, I just need to know that you are growing, too.
Separate but together, we grow alongside each other.
We both get to be exactly who we are.
We get to grow & evolve at our own paces.
We are connected.

And just like anything else, it requires something in order to be in relationship in this kind of way. Autonomous interdependence requires things like:

Trust
Accountability
Listening
Support
Honesty
Acceptance
Collaboration
Authenticity

Being in relationship in this way offers me freedom, space, energy, connection, presence, and love.

It also requires me to be vulnerable and in turn offers me clarity.

In many ways I feel connected in autonomous interdependence to you, as someone who is part of my community and shows up with consistency, honesty, trust, and support.

Thank you for that.

I also want to point out that this is the 100th Shakti Shine. That means 100 times that you have allowed me to speak vulnerably, freely and openly. Thank you for that, too.

I think autonomous interdependence is just maybe a new way of thinking about what we've already been working on around here, which is really special. And I am so grateful for this little connection we share in the grand scheme of things.

So what do you think? What does ~autonomous interdependence~ mean to you? What’s required? What would your world look like if your relationships were that of autonomous interdependence? How would that feel?

There was a long stretch at the beginning of my journey with yoga that everything was like 'Let go,' 'Just let go,' 'Let that shit go.' It seemed like it was everywhere-- on the internet, on shirts at TJ Maxx, on coffee mugs, in every yoga class I went to. I remember thinking, 'Yeah, ok. I want to do that. *Just let go. Let go. Let go.*' It didn't work.

Letting go is easier said than done. It's easy to preach Just Let Go. It's a whole other thing to live a life of letting go.

For me, a life of letting go means fully processing what's present. It means giving things up in order to get empty. It means a commitment to staying clear. It means listening for the just right timing.

Letting go requires patience. It requires space. Letting go requires trust. Acceptance. Surrender. Discovery. Letting go means letting something new in. So maybe now's the time. Just let go. xx, R
