Shakti Love Notes
We are always growing. I love that! And the more I grow, the more I recognize how important it is for us all to share what we're going through-- even (and especially) me.
So these Love Notes are a space for me to share with you each week-- about the studio, my life, how our community is growing.
'Create the listening for contribution.'
This is one of the ten tenets of teaching Baptiste yoga. We talked about it in our most recent teacher training weekend. And again in our team meeting last week.
Listening.
What does it mean to listen?
Are you skilled at it?
Is it something you can create?
What does it mean for you to create the listening for contribution?
I find myself listening in new ways lately.
Listening to the space in between. Listening to the trees. Listening for what feels right. Listening for intuition and impulse and the difference between reacting and responding, both in the moment and later. Listening for expectation. Listening for the signs that everything's going to be ok. Listening for grace. Listening for joy. Listening for love.
I've noticed that when I'm really listening, I am able to truly notice when something is off.
When I'm really listening, I don't have to worry so much about getting it right or if I'm going to miss something.
When I'm really listening, I get to really live in the moment.
Listening happens with my ears, but it also happens with my eyes, with my attention, with my heart.
In my life 'Create the listening for contribution' means being present enough in each moment that I am reminded that we are all connected and that everything matters and nothing matters all at once.
It's big, deep stuff-- Listening.
And at the end of the day, it's just part of getting present.
So maybe a good gauge of listening is presence and vice versa. Like can you really be present if you're not listening? And can you really listen if you're not present?
What do you listen for?
What would happen if you opened your ears, your eyes, your heart in a new way?
What would it be like to really listen?
In what ways does your life become more fully yours when you simply take a step back and create the listening for your life?
It's all part of the process.
xx
