Shakti Love Notes
We are always growing. I love that! And the more I grow, the more I recognize how important it is for us all to share what we're going through-- even (and especially) me.
So these Love Notes are a space for me to share with you each week-- about the studio, my life, how our community is growing.
'What if.'
One of my favorite things about traveling is that it gives me access to my inner 'What if.' I spend the whole time immersed in my present surroundings, awake to the living differences between this moment and my everyday life, and brimming with enthusiasm at the possibilities. This inner daydreamer shows up naturally, ready to go & full of ideas.
'What if' looks like possibility, and it feels like freedom.
I think it comes to me especially when I travel because of the space created in my days when I'm not filling every minute with what I think I should be doing. 'What I think I should be doing' closes doors, keeps me trapped in my plan, and limits the potential of anything ever being different. When I let go of 'What I think I should be doing,' all of a sudden there is room for freedom.
In that freedom, anything is possible.
What if everything in my life changed. What if it all stayed the same. What if Shaktimoved & expanded, tripled in size. What if there was no Shakti. What if Shakti stays where she is. What if Shakti Paris. What if I stay in Athens. What if I moved to middle-of-nowhere Spain. What if I had a home in both. What if I have no children. What if I have five. What if I down size. What if I upgrade. What if... what if... what if...
'What if' teaches me to drop what I know & drop what I think I know. It invites me to loosen my grip and open up to what I don't even know that I don't know. 'What if' says, "Why not?" It says, "You could do that." It says, "You don't need anyone's permission to live your life."
It also says, "You are always you, Ruby."
No matter 'What if' I am always me. This feels like the ultimate freedom to create a life that resonates with right now, because no matter what happens or what choices I make I will still be me. No matter how many lives I live in a single lifetime it will still bemy life.
This spaciousness is refreshing and enlivening and also scary. Not everything I 'What if' is something I want (right now or ever). But the generous act of entertaining the ideas animates life in a new way. And if I'm open, who knows what will happen or where I will be in 10 years...
I'm grateful for the magic that travel sprinkles into my life. I hope this feeling doesn't go away too quickly. And when it fades, I hope I remember that 'What if' is something I can make room for without going anywhere at all. All I have to do is let go of 'what I think I should be doing' and do nothing (or anything) instead, fully present.
I wonder what's possible when I create more space to daydream, more space for freedom, more space to 'What if' every day.
I think it's gonna be good.
xx
