Shakti Love Notes

We are always growing. I love that! And the more I grow, the more I recognize how important it is for us all to share what we're going through-- even (and especially) me.

So these Love Notes are a space for me to share with you each week-- about the studio, my life, how our community is growing.

Have you ever had an experience that you just can't fully or adequately or truly put into words?

That's what Shakti feels like to me.

It feels divine-- like, out of my control but also because of me but also because of hundreds of other people.

Friday as I laid in savasana I thought about all of the people who have supported me throughout the course of my life. I thought about the people who supported me as a young girl, as a dancer, as a basketball player, as a violinist, as a student, as a teenager, as a writer, as an actor, as a musician, as a young adult, as a yoga student, as a retreat leader, as a traveler, as a dreamer, as a risk-taker, as a strong-willed woman, as a Georgian, as a Nashvillian, as an Angelino, as an Athenian, as a business owner, as a yoga teacher.

I thought about all the roles I've played and all the lives I've encountered.
And I thought about the way that every single interaction led me here.

And then I thought about all the times that still felt so lonely. I thought about the moments when even though I had support, I felt alone on my ultimate journey of self-discovery & growth. I felt like I didn't belong and like people didn't 'get' me.

On Friday I realized something I already knew because I'm living it, but I hadn't acknowledged it yet:

I don't feel lonely anymore.

Somewhere along the way, I learned to lean into the support that said, "You've got this. I see you. I get it. Me too." I learned to receive support from all directions but to put my confidence in the ones who 'get it'. That shifted something.

Not only do I not feel lonely anymore, I feel deeply supported, held in an indescribable way.

That feels like Trust.

It's that experience that exists beyond words.
It's that divine feeling.
It's what has made Shakti possible.

And it took every soul to get here. It took every step, every role, every loss, every revelation, every new beginning, every let down, every single interaction.

Here: Honoring the past to live fully in the present without fear of the future.

That's what Shakti feels like to me.

“I felt incapable of real connections with people, which came with a lot of anxiety.

I felt like there was no way for me to make up that lost time...

I do not need to make up for ‘lost time’ because that is not how life works. i don’t have to apologize for any of this, and neither do you.”
